The short version: no account, no ads, no data brokers. We can't see your garden, and we never sell anything about you.
What Plantempo stores
Everything you create in Plantempo — your plants, rooms, watering history, journal entries, streaks and photos — is stored locally on your device. If you have iCloud enabled, that data syncs across your own devices through Apple's private CloudKit service, inside your personal iCloud account. On Android, there's no iCloud — instead you can back your garden up to a folder you choose (for example in Google Drive), which stays in your own account.
We do not operate accounts or servers that hold your garden. There is no Plantempo login, and no copy of your plants sits on a database we control.
On iPhone, your plants' names can also appear in Siri and Spotlight, so you can find a plant or mark it watered without opening the app. That index is kept by iOS on your device, not by us.
Location & weather
To adjust watering to your local conditions, Plantempo can request your approximate location and use it to fetch the forecast for your area from Open-Meteo, an independent weather service.
- Location is used only to look up weather, and only while you use the app.
- Before the request leaves your phone, the coordinates are rounded to about a kilometre, so the weather service never receives your exact position.
- We don't store your coordinates or build a history of where you've been.
- The app does keep a log of each day's weather — temperature, humidity and rain, never where you were — with your garden data, so it can work out how fast your soil dries.
- You can deny or revoke location access at any time in your device settings — the app still works, it just won't factor in weather.
Photos
When you add a photo of a plant, it's saved with your garden data on your device, alongside the rest of your journal. Photos are never uploaded to Plantempo, and we ask for photo-library and camera access only when you choose to add an image.
On iPhones with Apple Intelligence, recognising a plant from a photo and summarising its journal run inside your iPhone. Neither your photos nor your notes leave it, and no server is involved.
When you share a photo, or a before-and-after of two, it goes only where you send it, through your phone's share sheet.
Notifications
Watering reminders are scheduled and delivered on your device. They aren't sent from a remote server and don't require us to know anything about your plants.
Analytics & crash reports
To understand which features help and where the app trips people up, Plantempo uses Firebase Analytics on iOS and Android, and this website uses Firebase Analytics too, to record anonymous, aggregate usage events — for example, that a screen was opened.
If the app crashes or hits an error, Firebase Crashlytics sends us a crash report — the error, the app version, and your device model and system version — so we can fix it. Crash reports describe the error, not your garden.
- Analytics is configured without advertising identifiers (no IDFA) and is not used to build an advertising profile.
- Events describe actions, not the content of your garden — we don't send your plant names, notes or photos.
- On the web, we honor your browser's Do Not Track / Global Privacy Control signal and don't load analytics when it's set. In the EU, the EEA, the UK and Switzerland, analytics — and the cookies it sets — loads only after you choose Accept on the cookie banner; you can change your answer any time from Cookie settings at the foot of every page.
Your choices
- Delete everything: removing the app deletes its on-device data. You can also delete everything from Settings → Manage your data; that happens at once and skips Recently deleted.
- Deleted by mistake: a plant or journal entry you delete stays in Settings → Manage your data → Recently deleted for 30 days, with its photos, so you can bring it back. After that it's gone for good.
- Synced or backed-up data: on iPhone, manage or delete iCloud data in iOS Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Storage; on Android, delete the backup folder you chose.
- Permissions: location, photos and notifications can each be granted or revoked in your device settings at any time.
Children
Plantempo isn't directed at children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect information from them. As the app doesn't collect personal information in the first place, there's nothing for a child to hand over.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a meaningful way, we'll update the date above and note the change in the app. Continuing to use Plantempo after an update means you accept the revised policy.
